Key rules for candle fire-safety
Burn within sight. Don’t walk away. Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Keep away from things that may catch fire. Secure the area.
Keep away from children and pets. Make sure children and pets cannot reach burning candles.
- Avoid using in drafty areas. This will help prevent rapid or uneven burning or sooting.
- Don’t touch or move. Never touch or move a candle while it is burning or while the wax is liquefied.
- Keep candles 3” apart. Always leave at least 3’’ (8 cm) between burning candles.
- Do not place candles near a source of heat.
- Put candles on a heat resistant surface.
- Avoid direct inhalation of any smoke.
